Renowned choreographer, dancer, and actress Parris Goebel has recently announced that she will launch her own fashion brand. Runaway Motel is the name of the label and the first available pictures and short videos on Instagram look certainly promising.
The Kiwi artist is mainly known for her work as a professional dancer and choreographer. She is the founder of “The Palace Dance Studio” in Auckland and led groups such as ReQuest, Sorority, Bubblegum, or The Royal Family to great achievements, including first places in the World Hip Hop Dance Championship. By now, Parris has worked with A star celebrities, including, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Jenifer Lopez, Ciara and countless others. She starred on America’s Best Dance Crew, Dancing With The Stars Australia and in the movie “Step Up: All In”. Her career is shaped by one highlight after the other.
In recent years, the 29 year old allrounder excelled herself with choreographing Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show promoting Riri’s lingerie line, which was also featured in a making-off documentary for Amazon Prime. Additionally, she choreographed Jennifer Lopez’ Super Bowl halftime show this year.
If that weren’t already enough astonishing accomplishments for such a young age, now, Parris Goebel launches her own fashion brand. With her creative and empowering looks, combined with her great understanding for the moving body and artistic expression, Parris sets the bar very high. On Instagram, Runaway Motel is promoted with three simple words: MOVE, WORK, and PLAY – sounds intriguing.
Even more thrilling about the launch on December 4th 2020 is the entire setup and marketing. The brand is called Runaway Motel and the debut collection has the name “Room 407” – I can see where she is going with that. This concept became even more of my liking when I discovered the first colorways, which were also introduced via Instagram: “meet me by the pool”(pink and blue), “after dinner mint” (black and mint), “motel gym” (blue and light yellow). On the official website there is not much going on yet, but you are able to sign up, or “reserve a room” at the motel – clever!
All in all, Runaway Motel promises to be a fun brand with a thought through concept. I would describe the first outfits that I have seen as urban active wear with a spacey twist and on trend colors. The focus seems to be on re-interpreting active wear and creating garments that allow you to express yourself in any situation. Another asset: Inclusivity! Not only appear the visuals to be very diverse (we get to see models of different ethnic backgrounds and genders), but also the sizes are announced to go up to 4 XL. Yay!
All that’s left for me to say is that I am very excited for the launch in about two weeks.
