Meet the enchanting allure of SWSH’s music for yourself. From the moment you hear her captivating sound, you’ll be spellbound. Her lyrics delve into real-life situations and resonate with the emotions we’ve all experienced at some point. Accompanied by irresistible R&B and Hip-Hop melodies, her voice is undeniably powerful.
However, SWSH is not merely an extraordinary artist—she also has a captivating story to share. In a world where self-worth hinges on social media likes and conformity is the norm, true authenticity is a rare gem. Just like SWSH, whose name is inspired by a distinct sound (yes, you’re thinking of the right one!).
Recently, this 22-year-old artist mesmerized music enthusiasts with her breathtaking performance at Colors Studios Berlin. Her song “How you feel” finally puts into words the unspoken thoughts that reside within us all.
Take, for instance, her current single ”Tell me”, which beautifully captures the multifaceted and, at times, conflicting expressions of love. It’s a reflection of our complex nature—we simultaneously experience love and hate.
Fearlessly, SWSH embraces her true self and fearlessly expresses what’s on her mind. Born and raised in LA, she discovered her musical inclination shortly after learning to speak. At the tender age of five, she began playing the piano, quickly followed by the bass and guitar. However, she isn’t the only musical prodigy in her family. With unwavering support from her father, who not only offers emotional encouragement but also accompanies her on the drums, her initial musical endeavors found solace in the family garage.
Growing up, artists like Blink-182 and Jackson Browne graced her iPod, until she was introduced to the world of Hip-Hop. In a previous interview, she reveals, “The moment I heard Hip-Hop, I knew it was my true love. It felt like art in its purest form—abstract and distinct. Everything else seemed so formulaic. I’m grateful I didn’t dismiss Hip-Hop for lacking soul or instrumental prowess. They’re just stealing samples? Please.”
During 8th grade, SWSH openly shared her true identity, and although people treated her differently, her self-assurance and supportive circle of friends ensured a positive high school experience, transcending social hierarchies.
Without the backing of a record label, she independently released her debut EP, “Soup,” online. True to its name, “Soup” is a rich musical medley, blending various sounds and emotions. The EP’s sole collaborator is J.KELR, a member of the Blended Babies and renowned producer for Anderson. Paak. SWSH masterfully combines elements of rap, soulful vocals, R&B, and authentic instruments, creating a sound that exudes freedom and independence.
Her unique style is equally captivating—boasting an androgynous, effortlessly comfortable aesthetic with a touch of hippie flair. According to SWSH, fashion isn’t a significant focus for her; she dresses as she pleases, much like her approach to music production.
