Crushing on Ultraflex

The newcomer duo Ultraflex, with the Scandinavian solo artists Special-K and Farao, provides with their third single and the matching music video Never Forget My Baby for an aesthetic intoxication without any hangover.

It is obvious that the producers of this hit have a knack for spoiling their fans with visual content. Special-K studied fine arts in Reykjavik and is also active as a video artist. Farao, on the other hand, is more of the rational head of the Icelandic-Norwegian couple and the important beat maker and synth master of the band. Nevertheless, she also strictly follows the view that a clear visual identity is essential for the image of a band, especially in times of social media. Well thought-out concepts like the one for the music video for Never Forget My Baby should not only be reminiscent of pop icons like Cher or Janet Jackson, they also contain fictional characters like the person of the extroverted Yvonne Winona, portrayed by the talented Jóhanna Rakel who also directed the video. „Yvonne Winona is admiring herself in the mirror, listening to her go to ‚putting on lotion‘ song ‚Never Forget My Baby‘. She is her own gaze. All of a sudden Ultraflex appears on her bed.“

This song is definitely not just the perfect background music for a Strawberry Daiquiri evening on the white leather couch of your wealthy friend. Never Forget My Baby is bursting with the freedom to be freshly in love and the intrusive butterflies in your stomach, which are at least as bad and suffer from ADHD as the protagonists in the said video. „Picture driving in a convertible car on an open road with the wind in your hair, the ocean on one side, mountains on the other. Aimless but gravitating towards your love – that is he feeling you get from Never Forget My Baby.“

Their debut album Visions of Ultraflex will celebrate the long-awaited premiere in October this year and promise an exotic, modern disco sound with a futuristic boogie touch even with the bangerz that have already been released. Now the question arises as to how they intend to outbid that musical and artistic work of Never Forget My Baby. Fans can also look forward to the duo’s first post-corona concerts, because the live performances are characterized by Soviet aerobic exercises and irresistible breathing noises. So what are you waiting for, get in shape for Ultraflex.
