Soft Intentions & Hard Reset — Gina-Lisa Lohfink Breaks the Narrative

What does reinvention mean to you?

“To always find yourself again” (Gina-Lisa Lohfink)

On set for the Lohfink fashion editorial, Chris and Gina challenged this question with their individual perspectives on the importance of finding oneself anew. Inspired by Gina’s confidence to express herself and her identity fully, Chris Haimerl proposed Gina-Lisa Lohfink’s reinvented comeback to the fashion and modeling world. “I wanted to photograph her because her loving nature and wonderful personality inspired me to just be myself, no matter what I look like,” Chris told TITLE, “she loved the idea of reinventing herself artistically and immediately agreed.”

Chris: “The energy during the shoot was very warm, and everyone was super friendly with each other. Precisely because Gina was shown in a completely new light, everyone was extremely surprised at the difference that clothing, makeup, and angles can make. It was an unforgettable day, especially because Gina doesn’t do many shoots, which makes it very special.”

For our November Digital Cover, we explore the concept of new beginnings in familiar spaces. We spend much of our lives in places that we know best, where we feel most comfortable regularly, yet we don’t consider how we can transition into the unfamiliar within the known. “A new narrative always creates new possibilities,” Gina expressed.

This season allows us to set free past conventions and revive our core values. Not only is fall the season of releasing the old and reflecting on the self, but even our surroundings start to resonate more strongly with our emotions and intentions. When the days feel shorter and the wind has an underlying crispness to it, we feel the changes, and with that, everything falls together. Between the 18th and 22nd, the new moon in Scorpio allows for shocking revelations, intense emotions, and new beginnings to come through. An opportunity to reshape your identity to match your progression.

“I am and always will be the same, only my appearance changes. My heart remains.”

What is something you want people to understand about you that isn’t portrayed in the media? What do you want to express with this editorial series?

Gina: “My real character and my good heart.”

What people often misunderstand about reinvention is the concept of finding yourself while staying true to yourself. Reinvention doesn’t have to mean becoming a new person, changing your style, or acting anew; it can also allow you to step outside of your comfort zone to see what else can feel natural in a new way. Simply looking at oneself from a new perspective.

“I am and always will be the same, only my appearance changes. My heart remains,” Gina emphasized when addressing the perception of the media. Though this may be an unexpected angle of a familiar personality, at the core, Gina remains true to her identity.

What message do you want to convey with this project?

Chris: “To reduce their prejudices towards other people a little. When I mentioned in my Instagram stories that I wanted to photograph Gina, many people were very surprised and thought, Why Gina?! That’s exactly what I want to convey, a surprising photo series with a wow effect. And also to stand by who you are, no matter what other people say. Every person can be great at heart and has the right to beauty.”

“I believe in destiny—everything is meant to be.”
