Dior presents men’s creations imagined in collaboration with Mystery Ranch
From the lush rose haven in Granville to the Provencal gardens of La Colle Noire, nature has been an unwavering source of inspiration for Christian Dior. The world of plants inhabited his work and life, and over the years, the couturier cultivated his attachment to the countryside, to the earth, and to “simple and natural things.”
For the Dior Summer 2023 men’s line, Kim Jones chose to pay homage to this passion – which has become one of the House’s iconic themes through the collections – by partnering up with Mystery Ranch for the first time. Based in Montana – close to the Rocky Mountains, where its equipment is tested – the brand imagines bags created for adventure, resistant to the most extreme situations, and intended, notably, for rescue services.
Combining the formal with the informal, the practical with the purely aesthetic, and outdoor culture with the demands of luxury, the creative exchange born of the Dior by Mystery Ranch collaboration gives life to bags inspired by Monsieur Dior’s love of gardening. An emblematic model of the House – transposed to the menswear universe by Kim Jones – the Saddle is reinvented in a version designed for the outdoors, with an ingenious double-zipped compartment. It features a Nylon jacquard shoulder strap – on which a top band is stitched for attaching various accessories – an aluminum “CD” buckle, and alongside a second, more technical, that closes the flap. This new essential accentuates the allure with an extra hint of elegance, while remaining functional.
